I was the founder, co-owner (with Lee Fischer), and operator of the Iowa 1000 Yard Benchrest club near Pella, Iowa. We had a covered firing line with 22 steel/concrete benches and a terrific staff - we have shot registered IBS 1000 yard matches on a regular basis at our club from 2003 - 2010.
We were affiliated with the International Benchrest Shooters (IBS) and the gun rules for the Light Gun and Heavy Gun Classes, and rules of competition, are available on the IBS website - www.international-benchrest.com.
We also had a Varmint/Factory rifle class for accurized factory rifles
NOTE: Due to the unexpected passing away of the property owner of the land our range was located on, and the property owners family not wanting to rent out the property any more, we have had to shut down our Iowa 1000 range and are no longer holding matches at our original facility.
All our benches and equipment have gone to a new club starting up in extreme north Missouri, just SE of Lancaster, MO. They plan to hold registered IBS 1000 yard benchrest matches starting in April, 2012. Details will be posted on their website - www.ShowMeBenchrestShooters.com - as they get this range up and running.
